Sew Kindness endeavors to convey love to children and teenagers in our community, who by virtue of their living circumstances find themselves feeling lost or lonely. It is our hope that the gift of a pillowcase will give them a place to lay their head and rest, reminding them that they are valued and loved.

Our Story

MEET KARI JONES

Sew Kindness was inspired by a tutorial video I watched when I wanted to make pillowcases for my granddaughters. The person in the video suggested that a great recipient of a pillowcase might be someone who is emotionally hurting. That small gesture of kindness may give them hope that the future can be better. Wow! That really spoke to me.

As a person who found herself unexpectedly pregnant before being married, I can relate in a small way to people who ﬁnd themselves in circumstances that are not what they planned or hoped for. I was fortunate to have had faith in God as well as the support of family and friends to help me through my challenging days, but not everyone does. I felt inspired to purchase fabric and entreat the help of some generous friends to donate their time and talents to show love to displaced children and teens in our community.Children’s lives are often suddenly disrupted by circumstances beyond their control. With the gift of a pillow and pillowcase of their choice, it is my hope that having something of their own to hang onto will remind them that they are valued and loved and provide them comfort and hope for the days ahead.

Sew Kindness

AT HAVEN CAMP

Haven Camps exist to provide a safe & fun camping experience for children in foster care where they will have the opportunity to build new friendships, enjoy creation and learn about Jesus.

Sew Kindness partnered with Haven Camp in 2022 and 2023 to provide each camper with a new pillow and a pillowcase of their choice. In 2022, two dear friends and I were there to greet the campers as they arrived and help them choose their pillowcase. As my friend Heidi said, “It was so beautiful to see those sweet faces light up when they got to pick out a pillowcase.” It was an absolute joy to be there and witness all of the love being poured out on these precious children by the camp staff. Thank you, Haven Camp, for including us.

AT TUMBLEWEED

Tumbleweed provides safety, assistance and hope to our community’s vulnerable and homeless youth, creating lasting life changes.

Sew Kindness provided 100 pillows and custom pillowcases to Tumbleweed for distribution at their Christmas celebration in 2022.

AT YELLOWSTONE COUNTY CFSD

Sew Kindness provides a pillowcase to each youth placed in foster care in Yellowstone County.
